According to the forecast, one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, hailstorms and gusty winds are likely at most places across Jammu and Kashmir on June 4 and 5, with brief intense showers expected at a few locations.

On June 6, weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with brief showers likely at scattered places. From June 7 to 12, the weather is forecast to remain generally hot and dry across the Union Territory.

The MeT Department has also issued an advisory warning of the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, accompanied by brief intense showers at isolated to scattered places during June 4-6.

People have been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. The department has also advised suspension of boating and shikara riding during adverse weather conditions.

The MeT Centre further warned that brief intense showers at isolated places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions could trigger flash floods and mudslides during June 4 and 5.

The advisory was issued by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
