Srinagar, May 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday declared a special holiday for schools on May 29 in connection with the observance of Eid-ul-Azha across the Union Territory.

According to an order issued by the Directorate, all Government as well as recognized Private Schools of Kashmir Division shall remain closed on Friday, May 29, 2026, on account of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.

The order, issued vide Order No. 212-DSEK of 2026 dated May 26, stated that the holiday has been declared with the approval of the competent authority.

In a separate order issued Directorate of School Education Jammu, said, “In view of celebrations on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, all Government as well as recognized Private Schools of Jammu Division shall observe special holiday on 29-05-2026 (Friday).”

Order states that the decision has been taken after the approval taken from Competent Authority.

With the latest announcements schools across Jammu and Kashmir will now observe a three-day Eid-ul-Azha break on May 27, 28 and 29, 2026.
