Banihal, April 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and social activist Mohammad Saleem Bhat on Tuesday locked the main gate of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, protesting the shortage of doctors and briefly disrupting services.

He alleged that the staff shortage was causing hardship to patients from Banihal, Ramsu, and Gool, adding that repeated appeals to authorities had gone unheard. Bhat said several doctors were on study leave, while one had been transferred to District Hospital Ramban without replacement.

The protest ended after police and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mohammad Naseeb intervened and assured action. Services were later restored.
