Srinagar, Apr 17: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast a spell of unsettled weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, with intermittent rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds expected to affect several areas till April 19.
According to the forecast, the period from April 17 to 19 will witness partly to generally cloudy conditions, with one or two spells of light rain or thundershowers likely at many places, particularly during morning and evening hours. The weather activity may be accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph and the possibility of hailstorms at a few locations.
In view of the expected weather conditions, the MeT department has issued an advisory urging farmers to suspend farm operations during this period to avoid potential damage to crops and ensure safety.
The weather is expected to improve thereafter, with generally dry conditions predicted from April 20 to 24 across the Union Territory. However, brief spells of light rain or thundershowers, along with gusty winds, may occur at isolated places again on April 25 and 26, mainly during the afternoon hours.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of gusty winds and thunderstorms, while travelers and those engaged in outdoor activities are also urged to plan accordingly.
The changing weather pattern comes amid the transition into late spring, a period often marked by brief but intense spells of rain and wind in the Kashmir Valley.
