Srinagar, Apr 1: On Tuesday, the girls’ team of Green Valley Educational Institute, Ellahi Bagh secured first position in the doubles event at the 5th Jammu and Kashmir UT-Level Carrom Championship 2025–26, held at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Wazirbagh.
The winning team comprised Suroosh Tanveer, Aleeza Afrah Khan, Fatima Noor and Faizah Sajad. They were accompanied by Physical Education Department teachers Irfan Ahmed Rangrez and Ms. Neelofar.
The championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association, hosted by the District Srinagar Carrom Association, and conducted in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council under its flagship initiative “My Youth My Pride.” The event witnessed participation from over 350 players representing more than 13 districts across the Union Territory.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Nusrat Gazala, as the Chief Guest. Among the Guests of Honour were Dr. Altaf-ur-Rehman, former Physical Director, Islamia College Srinagar; Dr. Nissar Ahmad Paul, General Secretary PDF; Sameer Ahmad, Senior Vice President; Advocate Adfar Mehraj, Vice President, J&K Carrom Association; Shafkat Shafi, Judo Coach, J&K Sports Council; Mudasir Khan, General Secretary, J&K Carrom Association; and Mehraj-ud-Din, Assistant Incharge, SKISC Srinagar.
