An official said that searches are being carried out at 10 locations across three districts, including six in Ganderbal, three in Shopian and one in Srinagar.

He said the investigation pertains to a terror module being directed by Shabir Ahmad Lone, a Kashmir-native Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative currently based in Bangladesh. Lone, a resident of Kangan area in Ganderbal district, is operating from outside the country, they said.

“The case has links to a transnational network, with the module receiving directions from LeT handlers based in Bangladesh and Pakistan,” the official said.

The searches are being conducted on the basis of search warrants issued by a competent court in connection with a fresh terror investigation case recently registered at Police Station CIK, he said. (KNO)
