The procedure, carried out at Amandeep Br Medicity, involved the placement of a stent at the hepatic flexure — a technically challenging site — and is being considered possibly the first of its kind in Kashmir as well as across the Ujala Amandeep hospital network.

The intervention was led by Dr Wahid Akbar Consultant Gastroenterology and Hepatology Amandeep BR Medicity Srinagar, supported by a multidisciplinary team including Dr. Sheikh Zahoor and Dr. Syed Dawood, both Consultant Surgical Oncologists, along with Dr. Danish from the Radiology department, besides anesthesia and paramedical staff.

Hospital officials said the patient responded well to the procedure and was discharged in stable condition. Notably, the minimally invasive intervention helped avoid two major surgeries that would otherwise have been required.

Describing the achievement as a milestone, Director AHPL Dr. Amandeep Kaur said the success reflects the institution’s commitment to advanced, patient-centric care and medical innovation.

“This complex procedure highlights our team’s expertise and our focus on delivering cutting-edge healthcare services,” she said.

The Amandeep Group, which operates a network of over 750 beds across six locations including Srinagar, Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur and Tarn Taran, has treated more than 2.5 million patients and continues to expand its footprint in delivering specialised medical care.
