He said Baramulla recorded 29.5 mm rainfall, Poonch 29 mm, Batote 25.5 mm, Pahalgam 20.6 mm, while Gulmarg received 23 cm of fresh snowfall.

Regarding the forecast, he said that on March 19-20, weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain and snow at most places, while a few higher reaches of Chenab Valley and South Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy snowfall.

He further said that from March 21 to 25, weather will remain generally dry, with a brief spell of rain or snow at isolated places on March 23. From March 26 to 28, partly cloudy conditions with light rain or snow over higher reaches at scattered places are expected. Another spell of rain and snowfall is likely at many places between March 29 and 31.

Issuing an advisory, the MeT Director said that travellers, transporters, and people planning to move through higher reaches and important passes are advised to plan accordingly.
