Srinagar, Mar 15: In a rare instance highlighting the growing trust in Kashmir’s medical expertise, a young resident of Mumbai travelled all the way to Srinagar for specialized dental treatment from noted dental surgeon Prof. (Dr.) Shabir Ahmad Shah.

The patient, 28-year-old Pritam Patil from Dombivali in Mumbai, first visited Kashmir in December 2025 along with five friends to celebrate the New Year in the famous ski resort of Gulmarg. During the trip, Patil developed severe toothache which disrupted the group’s travel plans.

Through local contacts, Patil managed to secure a late evening appointment on December 29, 2025 with Dr. Shah at his dental clinic near Amar Singh College in Gogjibagh. According to Patil, the prompt treatment provided by the doctor brought him relief from the acute pain from the very next day, allowing him and his companions to continue their tour.

Highly satisfied with the treatment, Patil later visited the clinic again for a follow-up check before returning to Mumbai. However, due to prior flight bookings, he could not undergo further dental procedures required for some chronic issues.

Impressed by the quality of treatment he received in Srinagar, Patil recently returned to Kashmir along with his cousin and attendant Kunal Adawale exclusively to complete the remaining dental procedures. The two stayed in a hotel in Srinagar for about a week while the treatment continued.

Doctors confirmed that Patil’s dental treatment was successfully completed on March 13.

Expressing satisfaction, Patil and his cousin praised the professional expertise of Kashmiri doctors and the hospitality of the local people. Before returning home, they are also planning to visit the revered shrine of Vaishno Devi Temple to pay obeisance.
