Srinagar, Oct 15: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Friday said that one militant was killed in ongoing gunfight in Pulwama and claimed that the slain was involved in recent civilian killing in Srinagar.

The IGP identified the militant as Shahid Bashir Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad of Karfali Mohalla Srinagar, and said that he was involved in the killing of Mohammad Shafi Dar, an employee in PDD department who was killed on 2 October 2021. Talking to GNS, he said that an AK-47 rifle, used in the killing, was recovered along with ammunition.

The encounter took place in Wahibugh area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
