According to weather updates, the incoming system is expected to bring moderate to heavy precipitation in many areas, particularly in the higher reaches of Kashmir.

Forecasters said the main intensity of the weather system is likely to occur between March 11 and March 12 when several mountainous areas could receive heavy snowfall.

Tourist destinations such as Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Doodhpathri are likely to witness another spell of snowfall during this period.

Weather observers said a chain of western disturbances is expected to affect the region from March 10 onwards, which could keep weather conditions unstable for several days.

They said the approaching weather systems may lead to fresh spells of rain in plains and snowfall in higher altitude areas.
