They said that the operation was carried out by a CACB Srinagar team headed by ASP Makhan Singh. The action, they said, followed a complaint lodged by Mohd Rafiq Sheere, son of Lassa Sheere and a resident of Soafshali.

“During the raid at Patwari Khana, Bidder, Kokernag, Patwari Muneeb Farooq Mala, son of Farooq Ahmed Mala of Qaimoh, Kulgam and presently posted as Patwari Halqa Soafshali-Panzgam, was caught red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant,” they said adding “the concerned Chowkidar, identified as Farooq Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Gani of Soafshali, was also taken into custody.”

Officials said that further investigation into the matter is in progress. (GNS)
