Pulwama Police Seize Poppy Straw During Naka Checking at Newa; One Arrested

Pulwama, Jan 12: Pulwama Police on Monday continued its anti-narcotics drive, arresting one person and recovering poppy straw during a naka checking operation in the Newa area of the district.

As per a statement, reinforcing its commitment towards a drug-free society, Pulwama Police today achieved another success during naka checking at Newa.

During the operation, a police party from Police Post Newa apprehended one individual identified as Hilal Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Khaliq Wani, resident of Ghat Tokna. Upon search, 1.150 kilograms of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 04/2026 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at police station Pulwama and further investigation has been taken up.

Pulwama Police continues its sustained drive against drug trafficking and appeals to the public to actively cooperate and share information to help safeguard the youth and society from the menace of drugs. (KNC)
