Jammu, Dec 30: Two exciting matches were played on Tuesday in the HexaMed BIG Jammu Kashmir Premier League (BIG JKPL) 2025–26, organised by 92.7 BIG FM, at the University of Jammu Ground, with Valley Stars Ganderbal and Sultan Warriors Baramulla registering emphatic victories in their respective encounters.
The day’s proceedings were inaugurated and graced by the Chief Guest, Vikram Randhawa, MLA Bahu, who appreciated the efforts of the organisers and encouraged the players.
Addressing the gathering, he said that professionally organised sports leagues play a vital role in channelising the energy of youth towards sports, discipline and teamwork, adding that cricket not only builds physical fitness but also helps keep young minds away from social evils. He lauded 92.7 BIG FM for providing a strong sporting platform through the BIG JKPL.
The league is being conducted with the support of HexaMed Diagnostics as the Title Partner, CT University as the Powered By Partner, Kanwal Spices and Oxford Hospital as the Associate Partners, JK Sports Time as the Live Streaming Partner, and Pepsi as the Beverage Partner.
In the first match of the day (Match 5), Valley Stars Ganderbal delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Power Panthers by a massive margin of 158 runs. After winning the toss, Power Panthers elected to bowl first. Batting first, Valley Stars Ganderbal posted an imposing total of 211 runs, putting the opposition under immense pressure.
Nasir Kumar starred with the bat, scoring a brilliant unbeaten 103 runs, anchoring the innings with confidence and composure.
In reply, Power Panthers were bundled out for just 51 runs against a fiery bowling attack. Samardeep produced a sensational spell, claiming 6 wickets for just 3 runs, dismantling the batting order and earning the Man of the Match award for his match-winning performance.
The second match of the day was played between Sultan Warriors Baramulla and Nice Gems Cricket Club. Winning the toss, Sultan Warriors Baramulla elected to bat first and posted a strong total of 205 for 8 in 20 overs. The innings was powered by a blistering knock from Nasir Ganie, who smashed an unbeaten 48 off just 15 balls and also picked up one wicket in the match. He received valuable support from Zahid Dar (37) and Waseem Kachur (29).
Chasing the target, Nice Gems Cricket Club were bowled out for 118 runs in 16.1 overs. Arjun Singh was the standout bowler, returning figures of 4 wickets for just 3 runs, while Aazim Rather chipped in with three wickets. Sultan Warriors Baramulla sealed the contest with an emphatic 87-run victory, with Nasir Ganie being adjudged the Man of the Match.
Both matches drew a large gathering of cricket enthusiasts, creating a vibrant atmosphere at the venue. With dominant performances and growing spectator interest, the BIG JKPL 2025–26 continues to progress with high enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
