According to officials of Fire & Emergency Services J&K, two haystacks containing dry grass were gutted in a fire incident at Trikulbal in the Pattan area of Sopore. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze and stop it from spreading to nearby property.

In another major incident, a single storied CRPF barrack along with store rooms of 246 Battalion CRPF caught fire near City Mall on M A Road in Srinagar. Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control after sustained efforts, averting a larger mishap in the busy locality.

At Kuchmulla in Tral area of Pulwama district, a double storied residential house was damaged in a fire incident, while in Arampora Wagay Mohalla of Sumbal in Bandipora district, a kiryana shop suffered damage due to a blaze. Another residential house was affected by fire at Narbal in Budgam district.

Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters displayed exceptional courage and professionalism during all operations, working tirelessly and risking their lives to protect property and prevent the spread of fire.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Alok Kumar said a noticeable decline in fire incidents has been recorded under the department’s ongoing efforts. He attributed the improvement to regular fire safety awareness programmes, daily mock drills and swift emergency response mechanisms.

The ADGP emphasized that active public cooperation and strict adherence to fire safety advisories can help achieve the objective of reducing fire incidents to zero across the region. (KNT)
