Speaking to reporters at the site, the DC Srinagar said the project holds immense importance for the city’s commuters and residents, who have been awaiting its completion for a long time.

“This is an important project for Srinagar. We have been hearing about it for quite some time and today, seeing one tube complete load testing and the other nearing completion gives us a sense of satisfaction.”

He said by tomorrow evening, the Sanatnagar flyover will be technically complete in all its substantial respects.

The Deputy Commissioner added that the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department will soon hand over the project once the technical process is concluded. “After that, the government will take a final decision regarding its inauguration,” he said.

The DC further said that SSP Traffic Srinagar was also present at the site to review traffic management plans and explore ways to utilise the flyover efficiently once opened. “As soon as the load testing is complete, this long-awaited project will be ready for public use,” he said.

Notably, the Sanatnagar flyover, aimed at easing traffic congestion at one of Srinagar’s busiest junctions, is expected to streamline movement between Rawalpora, Rambagh and the Airport Road corridor once made operational.
