The bill was introduced during the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, but Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opposed the proposal, emphasizing that individuals living on land illegally cannot be granted ownership rights.

“The government is committed to providing land to landless families through proper channels and legal frameworks,” the Chief Minister stated.

Omar urged Parra to withdraw the bill, but the legislator refused. Following the refusal, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather formally rejected the bill in the House after all legislators rejected the bill, ending the motion.
