The raids were conducted simultaneously in Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara, Handwara, Pulwama, and Shopian districts. Officials said the searches were undertaken after the agency obtained search warrants from a competent court in pursuance of a militant case under investigation.

A senior officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the case pertains to the suspected nexus of certain individuals with militant networks operating in Kashmir. “The searches were aimed at gathering digital and physical evidence that may help in taking the probe forward,” the officer added.

During the operation, several documents and electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis. However, officials did not confirm any arrests made during the searches, maintaining that the investigation is still at an early stage.

Locals in the affected areas reported early morning movement of security forces as CIK teams, assisted by local police and paramilitary personnel, cordoned off specific houses and establishments for the searches. While some locals expressed concern over the sudden raids, officials insisted that the operations were carried out in a professional manner without causing public inconvenience.

Counter Intelligence Kashmir, a specialized wing dealing with counter-militancy operations, has intensified its activities in recent months. (KNT)
