The meeting, which was described as cordial, saw discussions around Pathan’s transition from sports to public life and his contribution to national cricketing achievements.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah lauded Yusuf Pathan’s role in shaping India’s cricketing successes, recalling his memorable performances that earned admiration across the country. “Yusuf Pathan has been an outstanding sportsman who brought laurels to the nation. His journey from cricket to public service is an inspiring one,” the Chief Minister said, while extending his best wishes to the parliamentarian for his future endeavours.

Pathan, who represents West Bengal’s Baharampur constituency in Parliament, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. Sources said the meeting touched upon issues of youth empowerment, sports infrastructure, and opportunities to foster sporting culture as a tool for nation-building.

The Chief Minister underlined the importance of sports in uniting communities and channelising the energies of youth in constructive directions. (KNT)
