Speaking with reporters in Gulmarg, the minister said that the Srinagar-Jammu highway is already through and today traffic is moving smoothly from Srinagar to Jammu.

He added that stranded trucks will be cleared first and that around 2,400 have already been moved via Mughal road and Ramban.

On being asked about the losses suffered by fruit growers, he said that the government is in touch with the Centre for a special relief package.

“We are optimistic about the package. Every victim whether affected by natural disasters or those associated with the fruit sector will be duly compensated,” he said.

The minister said that the overall situation has improved compared to the last few days, when traffic disruption had left thousands of trucks stranded.(KNO)
