Jammu, Sept 01: Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma and other senior officials visited Tawi Bridge here on Monday.

The bridge had suffered severe damage during recent floods.

Officials said the Home Minister interacted with the concerned officials and took stock of the situation.

Shah also assessed the impact of flood situation at Bikram Chowk and other adjoining areas, officials said.

Pertinently, the Union Home Minister reached Jammu on Sunday evening to assess the situation in the aftermath of the heavy rain and flash floods in the region.

He was recieved at Jammu Airport by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, among others.

Shah is likely to conduct an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas, including Katra, where 34 pilgrims died and 20 were injured when a landslide hit the old route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on August 26, and the cloudburst-hit Chisoti village in Kishtwar. (KNO)
