LG Sinha said the day is a moment to salute the tricolour and take pride in watching it fly high, while remembering the freedom fighters whose sacrifices secured India’s independence. He paid homage to the civilian martyrs killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, expressing gratitude to the armed forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security agencies for their role in ‘Operation Sindoor’ and ‘Operation Mahadev’ to avenge the killings.

The LG also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the Chashoti, Kishtwar cloudburst and extended condolences to the bereaved families, saying that relief operations are underway on a war footing. He stressed that terrorism must be wiped out completely from the Union Territory and that collective efforts with patriotic fervour will make Jammu and Kashmir terror-free.

Sinha urged people to work towards equality, prosperity, and self-reliance in every sector, empowering farmers, youth, and women, and strengthening the rural economy. He called for a united pledge to ensure that no individual or village is left behind in the journey of peace and progress, looking ahead with pride, confidence, and hope towards a brighter future for the Union Territory.
