Srinagar, Aug 15: Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board & Minister of State Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi unfurled Tiranga at Independence Day Waqf Event held at Sultan-ul-Arifeen Higher Secondary Institute Srinagar which was attended by Waqf Board Members Dr G N Haleem, Syed Mohammad Hussain other prominent people from different walks of life.

Special Officer Waqf Board Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Tehsildar & Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin were also present.

In her Independence Day speech Waqf Board Chairperson said that “while we derive inspiration from our freedom fighters, we are committed to dedicatedly work for making India a developed nations in coming years as envisioned by our Prime Minister.”

“We feel pride in seeing Kashmiri people enthusiastically celebrating the glory of our national flag. It is a reply to those who used to say that there will be no one to uphold Indian flag here. After 2019, J&K witnessed great transformation under the leadership of LG”, said Andrabi.

She presented a sketch of the transformation in J&K Waqf Board and shared her vision for future. Andrabi honoured some prominent Intellectuals ans social activists for their contribution in respective fields.

Many employees of Waqf Board from whole of Kashmir province were felicitated and honoured for their exemplary services. A documentary film on the achievements of Waqf Board was released on the occasion. Children from different Waqf Board managed educational institutions presented their thematic patriotic items which were appreciated by the large gathering.

The media persons who were presented Alamdar-e-Kashmir Awards included Qazi Salman (Director PIB & DD News), Tariq Ahmad Rather (Joint Director Akashwani News), Hafiz Ayaz Gani (Editor In Chief Rising Kashmir), Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo Editor In Chief Greater Kashmir), Zahoor Hashmi (Editor Aftab), Anil Raina (Editor In Chief Morning Kashmir), Arshad Rasool (Editor In Chief Gadyal), Farooq Ahmad Wani (Editor In Chief Brighter Kashmir), Munish Gupta (Editor In Chief Early Times), Shamin Mer’aj (Editor In Chief Kashmir Monitor), Shah Gowhar (Correspondent ANI), Mohammad Aslam (Editor In Chief KNS), Sarosh Kafeel (Beauru Chief News 18 JKLH), Irfan Fazil (Gulistaan News), Sajad Ahmad Kumar (Editor In Chief Geo National), Owais Masoodi (Editor In Chief Kashmir Today), Maroof Abdullah (Editor In Chief INS), Tariq Bhat (Editor In Chief ANN), Firdaus Ilahi (Sr Correspondent JK News Today), Parvez Bhat (Bureau Chief Munsif TV), Zubair Qureshi (Bureau Chief Dainik Savera). Poet, Critic & Expert on Sufi Rishi ideology Dr Satish Vimal, poet and social activist Inayat Gul were among the awardees. Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that Waqf educational institutions are improving at a fast speed and the momentum of development will continue.
