Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said that from July 23-24, districts including Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, and Kathua are expected to receive intense showers. “A few areas in the Kashmir Division may also experience moderate to intense rainfall,” he said.

From July 25-27, the weather is expected to turn hot and humid, with only brief showers at isolated places. However, from July 28-30, intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast, with intense rainfall at a few places in the Jammu region, mainly during late-night and early-morning hours.

The MET department has warned of flash floods, landslides, mudslides, shooting stones, and a rise in water levels in rivers and streams, especially in vulnerable areas. Waterlogging in low-lying areas is also anticipated. Farmers have been advised to resume farm operations between July 25-27 when weather conditions are expected to remain relatively stable.

The department urged residents, travelers, and authorities to remain vigilant during this wet spell.
