Jammu, May 07: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range, Shiv Kumar conducted an extensive tour of the border regions spanning Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
The visit aimed to assess the security situation, interact with law enforcement personnel and local communities, and strengthen coordination along the sensitive border areas.
During his visit, DIG JKS met with officers and jawans stationed at various Border Police Posts, commending their dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region. He also held interactions with local residents and members of the Village Defence Groups (VDGs), acknowledging their crucial role in providing vital information and support to the security forces.
Addressing the public, DIG JKS emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and urged them to promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to their nearest Police Post or Police Station. He cautioned against paying heed to rumors and fake news, which can often be disruptive and create unnecessary panic.
DIG JKS was accompanied by several senior police officers, including SP Rural Jammu, Brijesh Sharma, JKPS; SDPO Domana, Mudassir; SHO Kanachak; IC PP Gajansoo; SSP Samba, Varinder Singh Manhas, JKPS; ASP Samba, Garu Ram; SDPO Vijaypur, Arun Jamwal; Dysp Hq Samba, Sumeet; SHO Ramgarh; SHO Samba; and SHO Ghagwal.
During the visit, DIG JKS inspected various important Border Police Posts and held discussions with officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) to enhance synergy and coordination between the two forces.
Furthermore, DIG JKS issued strict directives to all police officers to remain extra vigilant, intensify checking and patrolling in their respective areas of responsibility, and take stringent action against anti-national and anti-social elements. He also emphasized that rumour mongers would be booked under the relevant provisions of law.
DIG JKS concluded his visit by appealing to the public to continue extending their cooperation to the police by providing timely and accurate information, which he stressed is crucial in maintaining a peaceful and secure environment in the border areas.
