Lt. Col. Prasad Shrikant Purohit (retired), the main accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast has been granted bail by Supreme Court on Monday.
Justice R.K. Agrawal and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre granted conditional bail to Purohit asking him not to tamper with evidence.
Another accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, has already been granted bail in the Malegaon blast case.
At least seven persons were killed in the explosion in Malegaon in Nashik district on September 29, 2008.
The Malegaon probe was handed over to National Investigation Agency in 2011 including other blast cases which involved ‘right-wing extremists.’
The cases included 2007 Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid and Ajmer Dargah bombings.
