IGP Jammu visits border areas of Akhnoor to review security

Jammu, Apr 20: In a significant move to review the border security arrangements, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti along with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) JSK Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma conducted an extensive visit to the border areas of Akhnoor sector.

The officers were accompanied by SP Rural Jammu, senior officers of the Border Security Force (BSF), the concerned Station House Officer (SHO), and In-Charge Police Post.

During the visit, BSF officers provided a detailed briefing to the IGP regarding the existing border security measures and operational preparedness.

The IGP issued specific directions to the local police to activate and strengthen the Village Defence Groups (VDGs), with an emphasis on joint training exercises and coordination between the VDGs and BSF personnel. Further, he stressed the importance of enhanced public outreach programs and a focused approach towards identifying and monitoring probable infiltration routes.

The visit concluded on a high note, with a clear emphasis on fostering better synergy and coordination among all security forces operating in the region.
