Srinagar, Dec 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned funds amounting to Rs 3.04 crore for the purchase of eight new Toyota Fortuner vehicles for the Hon’ble Chief Minister.

This was announced through a Government Order of 2024 issued by the Transport Department, a copy of which was accessed by the news agency JKNS. According to the order, the allocation comes under the Capex Budget 2024-25, with funds placed at the disposal of the Director, State Motor Garages (SMG), J&K.

The order states that the vehicles will include one Toyota Fortuner 4×2 AT for Delhi at an estimated cost of Rs 34 lakh and two Toyota Fortuner 4×4 AT vehicles each for Jammu and Kashmir, priced at Rs 42 lakh per vehicle.

The order also emphasizes strict adherence to financial rules, stipulating no idle parking of funds, no creation of driver posts, and utilization of funds following the e-tendering process and procurement guidelines under the General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017.

“The funds are non-transferable and must be fully utilized before March 31, 2025. The Director of SMG has been tasked with reflecting these expenditures in the Revised Estimates for 2024-25 and furnishing utilization certificates within the stipulated timeframe,” the order reads.
