Srinagar, Oct 07: Acting tough against the drug peddlers, smugglers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said to have arrested two notorious drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered Contraband substances from their possession.

A police party headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir at a checkpoint established at Sofi Akbar Road Chankhan intercepted and apprehended two persons identified as Muzafar Ahmad Marazi @Muzz Marazi (notorious drug peddler) son of Mohammad Akbar Marazi resident of Sofi Hamam Sopore and Ishfaq Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Majeed Lone resident of Wangam Bandipora, a police spokesman said.

During the search, five grams of contraband Heroin like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Tarzoo where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated. It’s pertinent to mention here that Muzafar Ahmad Marazi is involved in many cases of NDPS Act at different police stations.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
