Jammu records significant rainfall in last 24 hours, light to moderate rains lash Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 15: Several areas across Jammu recorded significant rainfall during the last 24 hours while Kashmir received light to moderate rainfall.

Director Meteorological department, Mukhtar Ahmad said that light to moderate rain and thundershower are expected at most places of J&K today.

He further said light to moderate rain and thundershower would occur at many places of J&K mainly towards late night and early morning from August 16 to 20.

In its advisory, the MeT has said that there is a possibility of intense showers (brief period) & heavy rainfall (Jammu division) may lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable places of J&K during next 5 days.

Water logging in Low lying areas & increase in water level in Tawi & other flood channels of Jammu Division during next 5 days, tje advisory reads.
