Illegal property of notorious drug peddler attached in Bla: Police

Srinagar, Jul 11: Continuing its action against drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Thursday said to have attached property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the district.

A police spokesman said that a property (Residential house worth approx. Rs. 23.00 lacs) belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Mohd Sabir Barwal son of Faqeer Ali resident of Jabda Kamalkote at present Laghama Uri was attached.

The action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR No. 17/2022 u/s 8/21 & 29 NDPS Act of PS Uri, the spokesman said, adding that the property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation and enquiry conducted by Police.

“This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
