Srinagar, Jul 11: Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department, Mandeep Kaur, accompanied by Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr. Owais Ahmed and officials from various concerned departments, conducted a visit to several areas in Srinagar City to assess the arrangements in place for the ongoing observance of Muharram-ul-Harram.

During the visit, Mandeep inspected several Imambargahs in locations such as Zadibal, Gulshan Bagh Madeen Sahab, Baghwanpora Lal Bazar, and Hassanabad. Mandeep personally reviewed the arrangements and engaged with representatives of Shia associations to understand their needs and concerns for the smooth conduct of Muharram activities. The representatives expressed their gratitude for the visit and the opportunity to communicate their requirements.

Mandeep assured that special provisions have been made for sanitation, electricity, drinking water supply, street lighting, and road maintenance to ensure that the Muharram observance proceeds without any inconvenience. Ms.Mandeep instructed the officials to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply during the important days and emphasized the importance of collaboration to address any potential challenges faced by the mourners.

Furthermore, Mandeep directed the concerned officers to carry out fumigation at significant locations such as Imam Bargahs and mosques to maintain hygiene and safety standards.

In addition to the Muharram-related inspections, Mandeep also reviewed the progress of the comprehensive sewerage scheme in Zone III of Greater Srinagar at Dr. Ali Jan Road, Outfall station, and the 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Noorbagh Qamarwari. She also assessed the status of the SSCL Projects at Khayam Chowk, Mahraj Gunj, and the Balidan Stambh at Pratap Park Lal Chowk.

The visit underscored the government’s commitment to ensure the smooth conduct of religious observances and the progress of essential infrastructure projects in Srinagar for the benefit of its residents.
