SPL: Downtown Heroes FC honored at Budshah Award Ceremony for outstanding performance

Srinagar, May 20: Downtown Heroes Football Club celebrated a momentous occasion at the Budshah Award ceremony, held to honor the team’s exceptional achievements in the previous football season.

The club emerged as champions of the Srinagar Premier League, breaking a decade-long winning streak of the formidable JK Bank FC.

As per a statement issued to INS, this victory marks a significant milestone in the history of local football, underscoring the talent and determination of Downtown Heroes FC.

The ceremony, held at Hotel Shaff Excellency saw the felicitation of the entire team for their splendid performance. Players who participated in the I-League this year were also recognized for their contributions and achievements.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Sarmad Hafiz, Principal Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs, as the Chief Guest, and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the JK Sports Council, as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Sarmad Hafiz lauded the efforts of Downtown Heroes FC in providing a robust platform for local players to showcase their talent on bigger stages.

He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting sports and nurturing young talent in the region. “Downtown Heroes FC has not only broken records but has also set a new benchmark for excellence in our football community. Their dedication and hard work have inspired many young athletes to pursue their dreams with passion and determination,” said Hafiz.

Nuzhat Gul echoed these sentiments, highlighting the role of sports in fostering unity and growth within the community.

She praised Downtown Heroes FC for their commitment to excellence and for being a beacon of hope for aspiring footballers in the region.

The event concluded with the presentation of the Budshah Award to the players and coaching staff of Downtown Heroes FC, celebrating their remarkable journey and success.

Meanwhile, the club’s management expressed their gratitude to the supporters, sponsors, players and fans.
