Udhampur PC: Over 10% votes polled till 9:30

Srinagar, Apr 19: The voting begins in Udhampur parliamentary comstituency on Friday where a total of 10.43 percent turout was recorded till 09:30Am.

A total of 16.23 lakh voters including 8.45 lakh male and 7.77 lakh female electorates eligible will vote and participate in the electoral process.

“The total electorate included around 23637 persons with disability besides 403 persons above 100 years of age who have been enrolled to participate in the electoral process”.

Around 2,637 polling stations have been set up for the first phase of the general elections being held across five districts of Kathua, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban. Out of these, 136 polling stations are P-2 while 31 polling stations belong to the P-7 to P-3 category. Among the districts, Kathua has 25 polling stations along the international border. In total, more than 11000 polling staff including reserves have been deployed on duty.

The polling was held from 7.00 am and will end at 6.00 pm before which there will be a mock poll in presence of the polling agents. The voting will continue even after 6.00 pm, in case there will be the voters still waiting for their turn in the polling station premises.
