Weatherman predicts light rains, snow on Eid in J&K

Srinagar, Apr 09: While the markets are abuzz with the shoppers, the weatherman here has predicted light rains and snow on Eid-ul-Fitr while the farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations from April 10th.

According to INS, Director Meteorological department, Mukhtar Ahmad issued detailed forecast for the next few days, saying that partly to generally cloudy with light rain and snow is expected at many places in higher reaches towards evening.

Generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow (higher reaches) at many places with thunder, lightning, hailstorm and gusty winds at few places, the MeT Director said, adding that a few plains and higher reaches may receive heavy rain and snow during 14th & 15th April.

Partly to generally cloudy with light rain and snow is expected (higher reaches) at few places on April 16 and 17, he said.

The MeT issued an advisory, saying that the farmers are advised to suspend farm operations from 10th.

Temporary disruption of surface transportation over few higher reaches during 14-15th April, it reads, adding that the travellers & tourists are advised to plan accordingly.
