Fresh rains in Kashmir plains, Weatherman predicts more

Srinagar, Mar 28: Under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance, light rains lashed plains of Kashmir on Thursday.

According to the INS, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir among several other areas received light rainfall this afternoon.

Pertinently, the weatherman here has predicted two back to back Western Disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir till March 31, saying that light to moderate rains and snow are expected at many places during the period.

On March 29, light to moderate rain and snow is expected across Kashmir Valley and some parts of Jammu region. No major activity is expected in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts, a private Weather forecaster, Faizan Keng said.

On March 30 and March 31, light to moderate rain and snow is expected across Jammu and Kashmir. “Heavy intensity showers can also occur.;There can be long gaps between showers,” he said.

According to Keng, over 6 inches of snowfall is possible over Sadhna Top, Razdan Top, Sinthan Pass, and Zojila Pass.

Shooting stones and landslides can occur along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway while conditions are not suitable for spraying of Orchards during all the days.

Hailstorm, gusty winds, and thunderstorms are possible in a few areas until March 31, he said.
