J&K Police committed to uphold peace, security: IGP

Srinagar, Mar 20: Inspector General of Police (IGP) V. K. Birdi Wednesday conducted a significant visit to South Kashmir’s RPHQ Anantnag and district Shopian.

After visiting RPHQ Anantnag, IGP Kashmir visited district Shopian, where he chaired a comprehensive security & election review meeting with officers including DIG SKR Anantnag Altaf Ahmad Khan, SSP Shopian Tanushree and other senior police officials.

The meeting focused on devising strategic measures to enhance security, combat the threat of OGWs as well as ANEs to ensure the peaceful conduct of upcoming elections.

SSP Shopian, Tanushree, provided a detailed overview of the proactive measures taken by the police to address challenges at the grassroots level.

IGP Birdi stressed the importance of establishing a robust security grid and taking all preventive measures to thwart the attempts of ANEs to disturb the upcoming Parliamentary elections.

He emphasized leveraging modern technology for transparent and result-oriented policing and urged officers to adopt innovative approaches to tackle contemporary challenges.

Following the security review meeting, IGP Kashmir visited Police Station Herpora & interacted with the stationed officials. He conducted a thorough inspection of the facility, reviewing the daily dairies maintained at the Police Station level & issued on spot directions.

IGP Kashmir reiterated the commitment of J&K Police to uphold peace, security, and the rule of law, calling for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to ensure continued peace in the valley.
