KU organizes maiden inter-college skiing tourney

Srinagar, Mar 16: Kashmir University organised its first-ever inter-college skiing tournament in which at least 15 colleges participated.

The thrilling event showcased the talent and skills of students from colleges across the region.

The event will be the regular feature of the Directorate, On the valedictory ceremony, Director Mandeep Singh, Director DPES along with Tausif Rather, Guest of honour (Administrative officer IISM) were present .

Dr Mandeep Singh thanked the Honble Vice Chancellor for showing full faith in the sports department of University of Kashmir. Presiding over the function,Dr Mandeep Singh expressed his gratitude and thanks for all the stakeholders those who were involved in conducting the said championship .

He also assured the students every possible help regarding every sports especially skiing. Speaking on the occasion, Tausif Ahmed gave the full details of IISM and provide every possible help during courses of adventures for the University of Kashmir and its affiliated colleges.

In the end, both the guests distributed medals and trophies among the winners of the championship.

Syed murtaza (GDC Magam), Musadiq Ahmed (GDC Sopore), Ahtisham Ahad (GDC Tangmarg) got the positions in SLALOM in men category while Inayat farooq (KU), Mehak Mushtaq (GDC Pattan) and Misbah Maqbool (MAGAM) got positions in women category.

In gaint slalom (MEN), Syed Murtaza (GDV Magam), Ahtisham Ahad (GDC Tangmarg) and Musadiq Ahmad (GDC Sopore) got positions while in women category Inayat Farooq (KU), Rashia Bashir (KU) and Kamseena ( Baramulla) bagged the positions.

In the overall championship, GDC Tangmarg has emerged victorious in men’s category while KU wins in women’s category.

The event was organised by Directorate of Physical Education and Sports under the supervision of Dr Harbinder Singh and Surjit Kaur.
