Srinagar, Dec 15: The world famous Dal Lake in Srinagar froze on Friday as the night intensified across Kashmir.

As per the Meteorological department’s data, there has been slight improvement in the minimum temperatures at maximum places in the valley.

However, the sub-zero temperature led to the freezing of a world famous water body, Dal Lake here.

As per the data, Srinagar, has recorded a low of -3.5°C against -5.4°C last night.

Kupwara has also recorded a low of -4.2°C while Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of -2.8°C.

Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded a low of -5.0°C while Konibal was coldest in Kashmir at -5.5°C. In Gulmarg, the mercury settled at -3.4°C.

Pertinently, the dry and cold weather is expected across the Valley till December 24.

There is no forecast of any major activity during the period in Kashmir while shallow to moderate fog is expected to continue in Kashmir for next few days.
