2 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, Kulgam: Police

Srinagar, Nov 21: Jammu & Kashmir Police on Tuesday said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Babareshi headed by Incharge PP Babareshi under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Babareshi Crossing intercepted one person, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to INS.

During the search, police said 28 grams of charas Powder like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Azhar Khan son of Tariq Ahmad resident of Qazipora Tangmarg Baramulla. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg where he remains in custody.

Similarly in Kulgam, a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Buchroo intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party, police said.

During the checking, the statement said that officers were able to recover 9 bottles of Codeine Phosphate like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Sabzar Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ahsan Bhat resident of Tarigam, Kulgam. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
