Police attaches property of notorious drug peddler in Awantipora

Srinagar, Nov 13: Continuing its action against drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Awantipora on Monday said to have attached one double-storied residential house valuing approximately 12 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Bakhtawar Ahmad Makroo, son of Late Ab Rehman Makroo resident of Gulzarpora Awantipora under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.

A police spokesman said the residential house was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation, enquiry conducted by Police Awantipora.

The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner. Pertinently the said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR numbers 20/2017 and 30/2022 of PS Awantipora, he said.

The notorious drug peddler is currently detained under PIT-NDPS Act and lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu, he added.
This action reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace, he said.

Meanwhile, local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property, which has been raised, used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Police District Awantipora.
