Encroachments: HC seeks presence of JMC Commissioner on Dec 18

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has asked Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation to be present before it on December 18 regarding a plan to deal with the situation of encroachments on the streets of Jammu.
The court passed the directions in a Public Interest Litigation filed by one Jagdish Chander Gupta against encroachments by shopkeepers and others in streets of Jammu especially in Old Hospital Road, near City Chowk, Jammu.
“We request the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation to be present in the Court on the next date of hearing to explain as to how he has a plan to deal with the situation of encroachments on the streets of Jammu,” a division bench of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar. The court re-notified the PIL on December 18.
