Gang of burglars busted, Juvenile among 7 arrested in Kulgam: Police

Kulgam, Sep 28: District Police Kulgam on Thursday said to have busted a gang of burglars by arresting seven burglars involved in many cases, and recovered stolen property worth Rs 10 to 12 lakhs.

A police spokesman said that on reception of several complaints about burglary in the areas of Police Station Kulgam, a case under FIR number 131/2023 & case with FIR number 165/2023 under relevant sections of law were registered and a special team was constituted under the supervision of SP HQRS Kulgam Ghulam Muhammad Bhat to investigate the incidents of burglary.

“During the course of investigation, one suspected person namely Ayan Shameem S/O Mohd Shameem Halwai R/O Bijnoor UP A/P Rangrezpora, Kulgam* was called for questioning. During questioning he disclosed that he along with 06 persons namely Shahid Sheikh S/O Mohd Jasim Sheikh R/O Delhi A/P Srinagar, Farman Ahmad S/O Hanif Ansari R/O Bijnoor, UP, Mohd Amir S/O Mohd Yameen R/O UP, Bhar Alam S/O Mani Ahmad R/O UP, Mudasir Habib S/I Habibullah Mir R/O Shalipora Sopore and
a juvenile committed the crime.”

All the persons were brought to police station Kulgam where they confessed that they are involved in multiple burglaries and were subsequently arrested, police said.

The investigating team headed by SHO PS Kulgam were also able to recover stolen property worth lacs on their instance, police said, adding that the investigation in the matter is in progress as more arrests and recoveries are expected, thus solving multiple theft cases of Kulgam Police.

Police has resolved to act tough against inimical and anti-social elements.
