Baramulla, Sep 16: One more militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter that broke out in Hathlanga area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, taking the death count to three.

An official said that the encounter broke out when joint teams of forces launched a search operation in the area.

“During a search operation, as the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon them, which was retaliated to, leading to an encounter,” he said.

Kashmir zone police in a post on X also confirmed that encounter broke out in the forward area and during the initial exchange of firing one terrorist has been killed.

In another post, police said that one more terrorist has been killed, while operation was going on. “Another #terrorist killed (Total 03). Search #operation in progress. Further details shall follow,” police said.

Meanwhile, Army in a post on X said that joint forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Uri by killing three terrorists.

“In a Joint Operation launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice and Intelligence agencies an infiltration bid was foiled today in the morning hours along LoC in Uri Sector, #Baramulla. 03xTerrorists tried to infiltrate who were engaged by alert troops.”

Army further said that bodies of two terrorists have been retrieved while one body was yet to be retrieved dur to firing from Pakistan post in the vicinity.

“02xTerrorists have been eliminated and bodies recovered, third terrorist killed but retrieval of body being interfered by firing by Pak post in vicinity, on LoC. Operation in progress,” army said.
