 Girl’s body recovered after 4 days from River Pohru in Jaggerpora Kupwara

Kupwara, Jul 11: Body of a minor girl who drowned in river Pohru in Jaggerpora village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday last was traced this afternoon, officials said.

They said that after days of relentless search operation, the body of missing girl Ronak Jan (12) daughter of Abdul Jabbar Payer 12, resident of Sulkote Kupwara was found at Awatkul, nearly 3 Kilometres from the incident site.

“Soon after the incident was reported, a search operation was launched by Police, SDRF, NDRF, Army and MARCOS with active assistance by locals to trace the girl”, they said adding however no clue was found until this afternoon.

Pertinent to mention here that Ronak Jan (12) was among three minors who drowned in river Pohru after the trio tried to retrieve slippers’ of one of a girl from the water source.

Two of the drowned minors identified as Zehran Javid (11) son of Javid Ahmad Dar resident of Jagerpora and Sadiya Fayaz (9) daughter of Fayaz Ahmad Mir resident of Mughalpora Nagri were rescued safely with timely intervention of locals.
