Jammu, July 5: Three women were among four people killed while eight others were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Rajouri district at midnight, officials said on Wednesday.

They said that a Eeco vehicle, with members of three families onboard and returning from Topa Peer Bufliaz after attending mourning rite over the death of their relative, fell into a deep gorge at Bhanghai road after the driver lost control over the vehicle around midnight. Three women identified as Shamim Akhtar (55) wife of Munir Hussain, Rubina Kouser (35) wife of Pervez Ahmed and Zarina Begum (38) wife of Mohammad Azam died on spot while nine people were injured and shifted to GMC Rajouri by local volunteers and police. However, they said, one of them Mohammad Younis (25) son of Mohammad Sadiq died on the way.

The injured have been identified as Shaheen Begum (30) wife of Mohammad Sadiq, Zaitoon Begum (35) wife of Mohammad Farooq, Shaheen Begum (45) wife of Hakam Din, Begum Jaan (50) wife of Fazal Hussain, Fatima Begum (60), Suriya Begum (35) wife of Mohammad Qasim, Kulsoom Begum (40) wife of Barkat Hussain and Mohammad Qasim (60) son of Ghulam Hussain, all residents of Bhanghai village of Tehsil Thanamandi.

A police officer told GNS that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.
