SRINAGAR: Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, today stressed the need of promoting eco-friendly tourism in the Valley and said that Kashmir is an ideal place for adventure and leisure tourism.
He was speaking to a group of families who have come here for adventure family camping organized by Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI).
It was said that YHAI is doing a commendable job to attract families from different states and cultures of the country for camping, sightseeing, trekking, mountain biking and other activities.
The Association has already booked 210 families from different states up to ending June this year.
Currently a group of 19 families comprising 70 persons are camping in the picturesque location of Harwan in Srinagar for five days and four nights.
The Director, who is himself the YHAI life member, visited the current batch of 19 families at Harwan welcomed them for choosing Kashmir for sightseeing. He thanked the families for visiting Kashmir and reposing faith in the local population.
He said that Kashmiris are associated with the tourism industry for centuries.
Shah also appreciated the YHAI for their efforts to attract families from different states to Kashmir. He assured full support to YHAI in organizing more such camps in Kashmir.
