Truck laden with empty gas cylinders falls into gorge in Ramban, 2 killed

Poonch, Dec 26: In a predawn accident on Monday, two persons were killed after a truck, laden with empty gas cylinders, skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge along Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Ramban district, officials said.

They said that the truck (JKO3K-3243), on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, rolled down into the deep gorge near Battery Chishma in Ramban around 4 a.m. Soon after getting the information, they said, teams of police, Army, SDRF, QRT Ramban and locals launched a massive rescue operation.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban confirmed in a tweet that two persons were killed in the accident. “Bodies recovered. Police & QRTs on spot. More details awaited”. Identity of the duo was not immediately known.
