Mainly dry weather forecast in Jammu & Kashmir, Gulmarg sees low of below nearly 4°C

Srinagar, Oct 2: Weatherman has forecast mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir while as minimum mercury recorded a slight rise at most places barring Gulmarg which registered nearly four degrees Celsius below temperature on Sunday.

There is no major change expected in the weather for the next few days also, a meteorological department official here said.

As regards the mercury, he said that Srinagar recorded a low of 11.8°C against 11.4°C on the previous night. The temperature was 2.5°C above normal for the summer capital during this time of the year, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 10.4°C against 9.4°C on the previous night. The temperature was 2.5°C above normal there, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 7.1°C against 6.1°C on the previous night and it was 2.1°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 8.2°C against 10.2°C on the previous night and it was 0.6°C below normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 2.7°C against 6.5°C on the previous night. It was 3.9°C below normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 11.2°C against 10.0°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 3.2°C above normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 20.0°C against 23.1°C previous night. It was 1.4°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 10.0°C, Batote 12.5°C, Katra 17.6°C and Bhadarwah  11.7°C.
