Inter-department football, volleyball tournaments conclude at KU; North Campus lifts trophies

Srinagar, Aug 25: Kashmir University’s North Campus lifted the winning trophies of the inter-department football and volleyball tournaments on Thursday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan chaired the prize-distribution ceremony as chief guest.

The tournaments in which more than 500 students from 40 departments participated were organised by the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES).

In her valedictory remarks, Prof Nilofer said the University will leave no stone unturned in creating facilities and infrastructure to develop a robust sports culture in the main and satellite campuses.

She said the varsity’s students are extremely talented and should join sports activities to compete at the national and international sports events.

She said the students’ active participation in sports activities at the national level will add to the University’s accreditation and visibility.

Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir was also present on the occasion as a guest of honour.

Dr Mussavir Ahmad, Coordinator DPES, gave a brief about the two tournaments and events which are in the pipeline at the DPES.

The final football match was played between
North Campus and Institute of Technology Zakura, while the final match in the Volleyball was played between North Campus and Physical Education Department. Both the matches were won by North Campus which lifted the two trophies.

The winners, runner up teams and participants were felicitated by the Vice-Chancellor at the valedictory ceremony, which was attended by Dean Engineering Prof Gowhar Bashir, Director North Campus Prof Pervez Ahmad and other officers and officials of the University.
